Picture: Tree Dahlia (Dahlia imperialis), a rapid-growing perennial or subshrub found from Guatemala to Colombia. It flowers from late autumn and can grow over 6m tall in a single season. The hedge behind this clump is over 2m tall and the vegetation in front is bush dahlias that have already died back, giving some idea of the size and flowering season of the Tree Dahlia.
