Picture: Calathea crocata, a tropical, evergreen, rhizomatous perennial native to Brazil. It is notable for its dark bronze-green leaves, which have purple-red undersides and for its flowerheads, which are composed of vivid orange bracts that enclose small red and orange flowers.
