Stock Photo: Eucalyptus delegatensis Image ID CFGe392

Strips of bark hanging from the branches of an Alpine Ash (Eucalyptus delegatensis), a 40–90m tall evergreen tree from southeastern Australia and Tasmania. Most eucalypts shed their bark and this feature, together with the volatile oils in the foliage and timber, is a large part of why Australian forests burn so freely.
