Picture: Female flowers and maturing fruit of the Shining Coprosma or Karangu (Coprosma lucida), an evergreen shrub up to 6m tall that in the wild often starts life as an epiphyte. It occurs naturally throughout New Zealand up to 1000m altitude. The separate male and female flowers open in spring and develop into fruits that are orange-red when ripe.
